North Jakarta Aims to Launch Waste Banks in 386 RWs by March

In the next two weeks, 386 RWs throughout 44 urban villages and 8 sub-districts in Central Jakarta are targeted to have BSUs.
Rano Calls on People to Manage Waste Wisely at Trash Fest 2025Central Jakarta Environment (LH) Sub-agency Head, Slamet Riyadi said that the plan to accelerate developing BSUs in all RWs has been discussed in a coordination meeting led by Central Jakarta Mayor Arifin.
The meeting, which was held on Tuesday (2/25) at Central Jakarta Mayor's Meeting Room, also involved sub-district and urban village officials.

We will work on it and are optimistic to finish it together," he expressed, Thursday (2/27).According to his data, 50 RWs out of 386 RWs in Central Jakarta don't have BSU. Therefore, the Mayor has directed sub-district and urban village officials to participate in accelerating BSU establishment in each RW.
Initially, urban village heads will encourage RW administrators to actively prepare all the needs for BSU establishment. Later, the Central Jakarta LH Sub-agency will assist them and provide their needs to establish BSU in the remaining 50 RWs.
"If everything is ready, we will launch BSU in all RWs throughout Central Jakarta," he asserted.
Central Jakarta Mayor Arifin emphasized that the establishment of BSU at RW level is important to reduce the volume of waste which will be disposed to Bantargebang Landfill. Besides, sorting waste into organic and inorganic waste can give a positive impact economically to improve residents' welfare.
"Inorganic and organic waste can be utilized. For example, dry leaves to make fertilizer and plastic bottle to make handicrafts and others," he mentioned.
